Welcome to the 2009-2010 Academic School Year. Let me begin by honoring the work of our volunteer school board for their commitment and dedication to our school district and community. I am honored to join you in this exciting new school year. Many great things have occurred that deserve recognition and celebration. Six campuses have been rated as Recognized by the Texas Education Agency. This speaks to the hard work and effort of our precious children, parents, teachers, principals and supportive community as well as former Superintendent, Dr. Rudy Lopez. I know that education is the process of learning, unlearning, and relearning better. Unfortunately, two years ago, the now-closed Keys Academy did not meet the state requirements for completion rates. Despite having the highest number of recognized schools in the history of our district, we missed the standard and now have an AU rating for our district. Appropriate action was taken by the administration and the Board of Trustees at the time and we are very hopeful that we will continue to make great strides forward. Kingsville ISD has much to be proud this year. Furthermore, we have a great opportunity to begin taking quantum leaps in our leadership behavior and customer service. I firmly believe in the idea that a high quality and rigorous education that prepares all students to graduate college and career ready is fundamental. It is also imperative that our district provide a service to our students, parents, and our community with a fast, friendly, flexible, and focused attitude. As we work to align our mission, vision, core values, and goals with our behaviors, we will continue to seek feedback from all various stakeholders so that adjustments occur as appropriate. It is only through our learning, and leading that we can secure the best future for our legacy. You and I have a rendez-vous with destiny and nothing shy of our children’s future lay in the balance. |
